ACTIVITIES (updated April 17, 2008):

A general membership meeting is held the first Saturday of each month, from 10 am to noon, in the Vigo County Public Library, 1 Library Sq, Terre Haute, Indiana. At the conclusion of each meeting a short program is presented by one of the members or an outside resource. Each program covers a topic such as:

Highland games & competitions ~ Scottish attire ~ Scottish Christmas traditions ~ Saint Andrew ~ The Gaelic language ~ Scottish recipes ~ Scottish Proverbs ~ Scottish beverages (alchoholic & non-alchoholic) ~ Famous Scots ~ Travels through Scotland ~ Scottish Piping & Dance

Refreshments, prepared by one or more members, are provided during each program, and Scottish fellowship (Ceilidh) is enjoyed by all.

EVENTS:

During the year the Wabash Valley Scottish Society conducts fund raising events in order to raise money for scholarships to qualified applicants, who are involved in Scottish studies, including history, performance, or other Scottish fields of endeavor.  One fund raising event held twice a year is the WVSS Yard Sale.  This event will be held on April 26th and September 20th (both Saturdays), and is always a great success in raising moneys towards scholarships.

Another fund raising event held each year is the Brazil Popcorn Festival.  Check back regularly to see when the Popcorn Festival will be held this year.

NOTE:  If you desire more information on scholarship application, then please go to the "Scholarship Application Page" or contact one of the officers listed on the "Officers and Committees" page.
